vBLOC

What is vBloc® Therapy?

vBloc Neurometabolic therapy allows patients to lose weight by reducing their food intake, helping them feel less hungry and more “full” for longer periods of time. Unlike other weight loss treatments that alter your stomach and are designed to prevent your body from absorbing nutrients, vBloc therapy targets the source of your hunger - leaving your body intact. However, vBloc is only approved for patients whose BMI is between 35 and 45.

The Science Behind Vbloc

The vagus nerve is a two-way communication between the brain and digestive system. vBloc therapy surgically blocks impulses, that alert you when you are hungry, from reaching your digestive system.

vBloc therapy targets vagus function by blocking the signals carried along this nerve, which in turn reduces appetite and leads to weight loss by limiting stomach expansion and reducing the frequency and intensity of stomach contractions. vBloc therapy may also reduce the absorption of calories by decreasing the secretion of digestive enzymes. Intermittent therapy allows the vagus nerve to return to normal function between active therapy sessions to limit the body’s natural tendency to circumvent the therapy.

The Benefits

  • Reduces the feeling of hunger between meals and hastens feeling full during meals
  • Successful long-term weight loss with compliance to exercise and a healthy diet choice
  • Reduces appetite
  • Decreases calorie absorption
  • Lowers digestive enzyme secretion
  • Allows you to enjoy a normal diet and way of life

The Advantages

  • Lower complication rate than traditional weight loss device procedures
  • On average, qualified participants lost 28% of their excess weight in one year
  • Does not require you to change what you eat or adopt a low-calorie diet
