General Surgery
The philosophy of our surgeons is that virtually all abdominal surgical procedures can be performed using minimally invasive or “laparoscopic” techniques. Laparoscopic surgeries use comparatively small incisions, small tools and a flexible camera called a laparoscope attached to a video monitor. The laparoscope allows surgeons to see into the area upon which their operating without needing a large incision.
Open surgeries require a comparatively large incision so the surgeon can see the area directly. Compared to open surgery, laparoscopic surgery generally offers the following advantages:
- Less pain
- Lower rate of complication
- Shorter hospital stay
- Shorter recovery time
